Steve Horder

Chief Executive Officer

Steve Horder is a seasoned IT professional who, in recent years, has held a number of senior executive positions in the IT and management consulting industries focussed largely on the public sector across Australia and New Zealand.  At Unisys from 2000 to 2004, Steve led a successful Justice & Public Safety Program across Australia and New Zealand. 

Steve also has extensive experience in the strategic management aspects of IT and spent over twenty years in the public sector building expertise in the strategic and operational facets of the administration of the Justice System and the public sector at large – a significant proportion of which was at the senior executive level. 

Appointed CEO on 1 September 2008, Steve joined Distillery Software in July 2007 successfully guiding the professional services, software development and customer care teams through a period of change focussed upon excellence in customer service delivery.

 

Paul Pacino

Chief Financial Officer

Paul is an experienced executive with a strong commercial background.  Before joining Distillery Software at the end of 2007 from a corporate advisory role, Paul held key operational management positions with a number of successful companies in the fast moving consumer goods sector including at Chief Executive level.   

In addition Paul has extensive senior level experience as a consultant and corporate adviser to the commercial and government sectors.

 

Richard Jones

Chief Scientist

Richard joined The Distillery in 2002 to lead the Federally-funded $8 million research and development program. Richard has made major contributions to developing ground-breaking operational and intelligence systems for police work. He brings to the company over 30 years' experience and an international reputation in advanced applied research and development in IT.

Richard graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1966 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Mathematics. His PhD was in General Relativity Theory, including the development of an early algebraic manipulation software program.

Richard has made major contributions to developing ground-breaking operational and intelligence systems for police work, including the first intelligence and case management system installed successfully at Scotland Yard.

From 1984, as Chief Scientist for Computer Power Group in Australia, he was responsible for developing innovative technology in information retrieval, summarisation and automatic keywording. His reputation and profile were major factors in the expansion of the company into an international market

Richard has been a member of the Expert Panel in Physical Sciences and Engineering of the Cooperative Research Centre Program for the past 6 years. He has considerable experience in developing engineering processes for startup companies, has played a major role in the CRC program and continues to publish technical papers.

 

Roger Martindale

Executive Officer

A former officer in both the British and Australian Police Forces, Roger retired from the Australian Federal Police in 1998 following a distinguished 38-year career. His positions included Director of Prime Minister Hawke's personal security and Director of the AFP's VIP protection program. Roger has a lifetime of experience in law enforcement, intelligence and national security, both in Australia and around the world.

This included a 4 year secondment to the Governor General and supervision of security arrangements for two US Presidential visits to Australia as well as numerous visits by members of the Royal family and other Heads of State and Government. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Security Intelligence and Diplomatic Liaison.

In the 1991 Australia Day honours he was awarded the Australian Police Medal (APM) for distinguished service.

Roger joined The Distillery team in 2000, bringing a lifetime of experience in law enforcement, intelligence and national security, both in Australia and around the world.

 

Glen Bortolin

Manager - Finance & Corporate Services

Glen is an experienced accountant having worked at Ernst & Young and Deloitte early in his career, then moving into the government and commercial environments of organisations such as Totalcare, Medicare, the Department of Finance, the Australian Electoral Commission and was Manager of Corporate Services for the ACT Cancer Council for 2 years.
